Day 6 - recharging (summary)

finally with some free time, I have an opportunity to sit down and write about the past few days.  I will start with that fact that I am doing well and God has kept me healthy thus far.  I have gotten plenty of bug bites but most appear to be just masquitoes, so no problem.  With the general news out of the way I will walk through the past few days experiences.

Day: 3
We woke up just as the light began to show and came together to read 1 John 2 and pray for the day.  We left right after breakfast and visited the jannette orphanage.  When we got there we were kindly greeted by jannette and got to hear her story.  She had started the orphanage after she was kidnapped and rescued because of the children with her kidnappers.  A bunch of young men and boys had grabbed her and taken her out to an isolated place to sexually abuse her.  She said while she was being driven away she was calling out to God saying that if He saves her then she will dedicate the rest of her life to whatever His will would be for her life.  Not shortly after they had arrived to the isolated area to commit a dark act one of the young men got a phone call and left, leaving the boys with her.  She said that the boys starting talking and one of them thought it might be his aunt.  So one of the boys took off her mask and another boy agreed that she was one of the boys Aunt.  They then let her go and months later started the ministry for the children.  She said the most miraclous part of gods grace during that horrible event was that she was not any of the boys Aunt.  While at the orphanage we got to walk into each class and talk with the children as they were in class and pray for the teachers.  Then Dom and myself played soccer with the older boys.
Once we had finished lunch we left there and took off to a place called "mango tree".  This was one of Dom's good friends who is a pastor who has a heart for the youth.  The place he chose to start a ministry was outside of port-an-prince across a rockquarry.  In the small village is a lot of voodoo and many children that need to hear the good news and be loved and cared for.  He has no building so he sets up a few benches in an open field and brings a portable speaker for music and the message.  The environment was still very rough around the edges but as the sunset and children praised God and took notes,  I could see the Heavenly Father woeing many of the children to himself.

Day 4
Was a little more relaxed but we were still on the move.  We got up again early in the morning to finish 1 John 2 and pray for the day.  After breakfast we packed up and said good by to the child of hope guesthouse.  It was tough to say goodbye because we had gotten to know the workers there so well but I told them I may stay one more night there before I leave, they were encouraged to hear that.  We drove up the mountain for lunch and ate at a pizza place that looked over the overpopulated mountain side.  After we made our way back down the hill and checked into the elite hotel.  This was the same hotel that our epic group stayed at in August.  It was great to see many of there faces again.  They asked how everyone else was that came in August and told me about how there past months have been.  Pastor day then picked us up from the hotel and we traveled about an hour away to a small village by the area that tens of thousands went after the 2010 earthquake.  Pastor day had bought a plot of land there and was going to be having his first Sunday service in two weeks.  We walked with him door to door letting families know and asking if they know jesus.  Many said yes and others said no.  3 ended up giving their lives to Christ while the rest said not yet.  There was some great strong holds over people thinking they have to be right before going to God.  We spoke the truth and we say hearts responding to gods grace but it was tough for this battle is not against flesh and blood.  We then had food brought to the children of the area and everyone gathered around to get food and care.  We traveled back to the elite hotel and Jean-Phillipe met us there, elite hotel security guard, for dinner.  It was great to see him and hear about his family.  I then had the chance to give him a laptop computer that he much needed.  He received it with great joy and overwhelming gratitude.

Worship at crusade

Day: 5
We packed up again before service at dom's home church so we were ready to go with pastor Day for the night to a town 2 hours away for a crusade that evening.  Church service was in English because it was started and led by an american.  It was a good service with old worship music and the most white people I had seen at one place here, totaling around 20.  I asked the pastor where he visioned the church in Haiti to be and were it was going.  He answered with it is the book of Haggai.  I found this an amazing response because one day before leaving Colorado a brother in Christ received a prophecy from God for me to read the book of Haggai.
Pastor Day then picked us up and we went to his house to drop off our bags and eat dinner at his house with his family.  He at the time showed me my room to stay in when Danae and Brent leave and slipped in that I would be preching tonight.  He said there should be only around 2,000 people so no problem.  With some doubt at first,  I concluded he has the Holy Spirit and if God wants me to preach then preach I must.  The two hour drive was beautiful and as we arrived the band on the stage was preparing.  As the worship music began to play there was only about 50 people but with in an hour 2,000 did show up.  I new the passage I would start with so rather then wondering what I will say I joined in with everyone worshipping the lord with great joy and trusted the lord for words.  Just before I went up to preach the goodness, a large group of voodoo doctors marched down the street chanting.  There attempt to distract and create a fear foothold was quickly drowned out by the overwlming feeling of the holy spirits presence.  Dom was my translator and we shared the gospel and part of my story for 20 minutes and then pastor day rapped it up!  It was something I never visioned before getting here but the lord has great plans for those who love him.  We stayed the night across the street from the crusade in one person huts with bucket showers, we finished it up with roughen it out!

Day 6: we got up before the  sunrise and left back for port-an-prince to get back before traffic and we packed up again and unpacked at another guest house closer to pastor Day.  So here I sit and I am about to have dinner before going to another revival were I am suppose to be preaching again.  This time my passage will be coming from the book of Haggai.
